Dermatology

We take a multi-disciplinary approach to ensure best care

Our Veterinary Dermatology referral service works closely with colleagues from Internal Medicine, Diagnostic Imaging and Soft Tissue Surgery, offering a multi-disciplinary approach to referred cases.

As Dermatology cases often require long-term management and support, we work closely with the referring vet and pet owner to achieve not only early diagnosis and immediate relief of clinical signs but also to achieve long-term control of the disease, balancing suitable therapy with minimal side-effects.

Adequate time is provided to ensure that the history from both referring clinician and client is thoroughly evaluated. A written report to the referring clinician will follow each visit with ongoing telephone support between visits provided. Great communication is the key!

Dermatology Facilities

Our well-equipped on-site laboratory with trained technicians provides same day results for haematology, biochemistry and microscopic examination of samples (cytology, parasitology) as well as carrying out bacterial and fungal cultures.

Dermatology Procedures

Procedures carried out in-house include:

  • Intradermal testing for allergy investigation
  • Endocrine testing (performed in suitable cases)
  • Skin biopsy

Ear Diseases

Ear diseases represent a large proportion of our referral caseload and our excellent imaging facilities, including CT and MRI, help differentiate medical from surgical cases. Video-otoscopy and BAER evaluation of hearing further enhances our ability to properly diagnose and treat these often frustrating ear diseases, hopefully enhancing patient welfare.
